Curriculum

All courses in the Theology Department, in their manner of presentation and in the material presented, clearly reflect the goals of Holy Name's Mission Statement. Gospel values are the guidelines used in teaching all theology classes. We seek to develop the whole person by a balanced program that includes Scripture, Church, Morality (personal and social), Prayer, and Spirituality. The service projects, in conjunction with Theology classes, teach the value of reaching out to the marginalized in our community. Our classes also provide the catechesis which support Holy Name's liturgical celebrations. In Theology classes, students are encouraged to become involved in their individual parish communities, so that by their example, Christ's message may "go out to all the world ..."

Our Mission

The overall purposes and objectives of the Theology Department are two-fold. First, each student will be evaluated on his/her ability to distinguish and demonstrate an understanding of the Good News of Christianity and the meaning of Catholic identity. Second, each student will be given the opportunity for a personal faith-in-action response through the Theology Department's academic requirements, as well as service programs offered through the office of Campus Ministry.
